I had same problem on a 2010 Ceed,it was the glow plugs,but as car manufacturers make them so long and thin nowdays one snapped,cost £300 to get it removed,I remember the old Peugeot 1.9 Deisel,10mm spanner wet and dry blow on them re fit boom! cars are made to fail nowdays with built in weaknesses
Then warm up the engine for say minutes, and take another temperature reading of the oil. Keep repeating until you get a reading of 40 - 50 C. This way the oil is neither too hot or too cold. Change the oil and filter at least every 12 months, especially on low mileage cars.
