The "coil spring" being referred to is probably an ignition coil. This does not sound like the issue you are having, as this would definitely not cause your ESC/TPMS light . You would likely also have a rough idle or a vibration during acceleration.
Car: 2001 Audi A6 2.8L Quattro Issue: Intermitent starting issue Problem: Car starts in the begining of the day, but will not start again unless I wait 1 or 2 hours. It cranks but the engine will not start. I have confirmed voltage, checked & changed the battery, checked the alternator and the charging is fine.Soak it down and work the steering. If it doesn't solve the problem, it could still be the shaft/joint that is the problem but you may need a shop to confirm. If it does solve it, I still suggest a can of Fluid Film before winter.
